Pre School has Football Fever!

Yes, this term the pre-schoolers have donned hats and shades and are following the World Cup on a trip to Brazil!!! They will be making passports and flying off in their imaginary aeroplanes, first class of course!

As they take their trip, our intrepid explorers will be hopping aboard a canoe and heading off down the Amazon (watch out for crocodiles!); ‘growing’ wild in the rainforest and getting creative with the carnival! Party time!

And of course, the summer term just wouldn’t be complete without our very own Fred the Ted. He’s just desperate to join the pre-schoolers on their adventures – or even just to pop to the shops or the park for a game of football, he really doesn’t mind!

We’re in for an action packed term – will you join us?

Ladies Style Night

Have you a wardrobe full of clothes but feel totally uninspired? If so then our Style Night with ‘Colour Me Beautiful’ image consultant Kate Evans can help. Bring your friends for canapes and wine at what promises to be a stylish night! All proceeds to Alderton Acorns. For more information click here.

Summer term and we’re on our travels!

Many of the children will be going away on holiday soon so our theme for this term is journeys. We are going on a journey around Europe visiting Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Greece. We will learn a bit about the countries we visit and try lots of their delicious food. We will talk about pictures, postcards, artifacts, songs, dances and anything else that the children bring in from the different countries.

Fred the Ted has already started his journey to his friends’ houses. He is a very friendly bear who loves having adventures. He has his own backpack with a camera and notebook in it. A different child will be taking Fred home each day and taking photos of where he has been and what food he has tried at their houses. Fred is a happy lad and doesn’t have to go anywhere special. Just home to play in the garden is a big adventure for our little bear!

We will be having a pirate theme for the last week of term. Lots of pirate dressing-up and activities, including a trip to a desert island garden for treasure hunting and pirate fun. Arrrgh! That week we’ll also have a Red Banana Drama session and an end of year concert and leavers party.

All in all a busy term of fun!

Robots, castles and dinosaurs…

It has been another busy time at Pre-School. We have had lots of fun exploring the children’s own ideas and interests. We made robots, castles and cars using the junk, a fabulous Dinosaur land made out of papier-mâché, and wonderful monster feet with shoeboxes. We all dressed up as Princesses, knights and dragons and acted out stories of Rapunzel and St George and the Dragon.

The children are enjoying playing outside more now the warmer weather has arrived and have had a lot of fun exploring floating and sinking in their water play. The flowers in the garden are starting to grow, aided by copious amounts of water from the children’s watering cans.

More children are now attending Forest School and there is quite a procession down to the park on Thursday afternoons. They have taken part in a variety of activities including bug hunts, den building, making fires and drinking lots of hot chocolate.
